Last month I attended the public open house for #MidtownNorth by Westwood Developments. After leaving I decided to try my hand at designing a basic lot plan of the 5-acre site.
My proposed site plan features four buildings placed around a public plaza accessed from Robie Street (directly across from Bloomfield path) and a new pedestrian street connecting Clifton Street to Almon Street.
A pocket park with a playground would be built where the two walkways intersect.
The Almon Street buildings have ground floor retail on all four sides while the point tower along St. Albans features townhouses. Between the Almon Street buildings is a interior walkway featuring retail and 2-4th floor offices.
Heights are not specified since that would be decided by various factors. Given the lack of abutting low-density residential I would support the south tower reaching 20 floors provided it gets narrower as the height grows.
This is simply one person’s idea for the site and should be taken only as a concept. What would you like to see on this prime North-End site?
